Background
Evernym is a software developer founded in 2013 to combat the digital identity crisis. Their mission is to bring humanity into our digital interactions. Their primary goal is to develop a revolutionary approach to digital identity security called Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI). Self-Sovereign Identity puts individuals in control of their digital identity and data through a decentralized ledger rooted on the blockchain. Evernym called upon DSR’s world-class Blockchain engineering skills to complete the complex software development for their Self-Sovereign Identity Solution.
The SSI platform consists of multiple complex components and features: a global public distributed ledger, client SDK, shared crypto libraries, tokens, interoperable protocols and back and frontend support. This technology is fairly new and completing this task would require the creation of a new Blockchain platform, strong mathematical skills to implement consensus protocols and zero-knowledge proof cryptography and strong communication skills in building the open-source community.

The Solution
DSR contributed to the development of Self-Sovereign Identity by leading in the design, development, and support of Hyperledger Indy, Ursa & Aries, which is the blockchain platform and protocols SSI is rooted on. DSR provided its expertise on platform design & architecture, consensus protocols, and cryptography. DSR also performed unit, integration, stress, load, performance and simulation testing. Along with developing the blockchain platform, DSR has continued to assist Evernym by developing and managing commercial applications, Verity and Connect.me, based on Hyperledger Indy and Aries.

The Result
DSR designed and developed Hyperledger Indy and components to interact with it and continues to serve as the primary contributor and maintainer of the code base. DSR contributed a lot in Hyperledger Ursa, which originated from hyperledger indy-crypto codebase created by DSR team. Sovrin MainNet, the most popular deployment of Hyperledger Indy, has successfully served thousands of clients without any issues or downtimes for multiple years.
