DSR joins Linux and Hyperledger Foundations to help build a decentralized Web 3.0 world

September 12th, 2022

DSR Corporation has joined the Linux Foundation and its enterprise blockchain project, Hyperledger Foundation. The Linux Foundation is the world’s leading home for collaboration on open-source software, hardware, standards, and data. Hyperledger Foundation brings transparency and efficiency to the enterprise market by fostering a thriving ecosystem around open-source blockchain software technologies. Hyperledger Foundation members include industry-leading organizations in finance, banking, healthcare, supply chains, manufacturing, technology and beyond.

DSR is looking to bring its extensive self-sovereign identity (SSI) and blockchain experience to the open-source community and to continue to support Hyperledger Indy and Aries, where we are one of the founding contributors and maintainers. We will also extend our knowledge in Hyperledger Fabric as well as enterprise blockchain and supply chain use cases. SSI is a user-centric model for controlling one’s digital identity that can be applied to individuals, companies, and things. It allows entities to control their identity, how it is used, who it is seen by, and what level of it is shared in a secure and verified way. We believe that the decentralized Web 3.0 world will give everyone more control over their data, increase security, boost privacy regulations like GDPR, and help support government initiatives for regulators and consumers alike, while delivering an overall better experience.

"Our membership in both the Linux and Hyperledger Foundations is an exciting development for DSR and our decentralized systems division as we’ve been working in the space for over six years," said Alexander Shcherbakov, Decentralized Systems Business Unit Manager, DSR Corporation. "This is a tremendous opportunity to bring our nearly 25 years of software development experience to the growing number of companies leveraging the Hyperledger Foundation’s ecosystem. DSR is eager to make our contribution to both communities as an official member.”

The scope of our blockchain expertise includes IoT ledgers, self-sovereign identity libraries and SDKs, implementation of distributed ledger frameworks and consensus protocols, support for proof-of-stake blockchains and crypto tokens, cryptography libraries, and central bank digital currency. DSR services go well beyond just development and includes complex math, creation of open-source specifications, work within the open-source community, and deployment and maintenance of production blockchains through DevOps and quality control. In addition to Hyperledger Indy, Aries, and Ursa, we have made contributions to popular blockchain and self-sovereign identity frameworks, such as Tendermint and Cosmos-SDK.

“DSR has been a hands-on contributor to the decentralized identity work in the Hyperledger community,” said Daniela Barbosa, Executive Director, Hyperledger Foundation, and General Manager Blockchain, Healthcare and Identity at the Linux Foundation. “We appreciate the team’s commitment to open-source development and welcome them as an official member of both the Hyperledger and Linux Foundations. Their support and engagement will be a value-add across the Hyperledger projects and help in expanding the range of use cases for our technologies.”

DSR supports the expansion and utilization of blockchain into other applications beyond cryptocurrency as we believe the decentralized approach can be applied to many industries with great benefits. We work with IoT, enterprise systems, computer vision, and mobile technologies and anticipate a lot of convergence with blockchain in these areas in the future. For instance, DSR merged 10+ years of IoT and decentralized systems experience to spearhead the development of a decentralized compliance ledger for IoT wireless protocol developed in the Connectivity Standards Alliance. We see open-source communities as a great way to develop and deploy standards and serve as a catalyst for new technology adoption. As these tools continue to evolve, expansion of blockchain usage in other areas will only grow.
