DSR's CES 2026 Takeaways

January 12th, 2026

Last week, the DSR team was at CES 2026, and as always, the industry signals at CES were loud and clear.  Yes, there were many examples of AI acceleration, robot demonstrations, and many new products. For those who did not have a chance to attend the show or those simply looking for DSR’s take, our team returned with key takeaways that closely align with what we are seeing in our active projects.

IoT

Across the CES floor, new generations of smart home products with enhanced features were showcased. What’s notable wasn’t just new features for smart locks, smart home appliances and cameras, but the emphasis on interoperability, usability and sustainability. Driving this trend is increased interoperability between IoT protocols such as Zigbee and Matter. These protocols enable broader ecosystems, giving product developers building with these protocols more flexibility to develop more powerful and differentiated features.

Computer Vision

Physical AI was a highlight of CES with new use cases rapidly emerging across industries. Specialized applications that track and deliver real-time data points are increasing in popularity, especially in industrial and safety systems. Camera manufacturers displayed new products with new onboard applications and analytics. The interest in Computer Vision applications that apply to specific use cases signals industries are ready to apply Video AI solutions to make operations safer and more efficient.

CES 2026 once again demonstrated why it remains the world’s most influential technology event and gathering for decision-makers. The show highlighted clear momentum behind feature enhancements for IoT devices, an exciting development as protocol interoperability fuels ecosystem expansion. The rapid maturation of Computer Vision and Physical AI solutions across industries presents new opportunities for applications to support operational safety and efficiency.
