DSR submits bid to Cardano's Project Catalyst for decentralized systems

DSR is excited to continue advancing our work in decentralized systems by submitting a proposal to Cardano’s Project Catalyst “Fund 10: Atala PRISM: Launch Ecosystem.” Cardano is a proof-of-stake blockchain platform that combines cutting-edge technologies to provide unparalleled security and sustainability to decentralized applications, systems, and societies. Their Project Catalyst program supports the development of blockchain technologies to incentivize and fund community-approved ideas. 

DSR, one of the core authors, maintainers, and contributors of Hyperledger Indy and Aries standards and code, as well as the initial co-authors of CL Anoncreds spec and reference implementation, is proposing to integrate Cardano and Cardano Anoncreds into Hyperledger Aries.  

The goal of our proposal is to integrate Cardano-based DID:prism and CL Anoncreds into Hyperledger Aries JS. Integrating Cardano into Hyperledger Aries will make it the default option for Hyperledger Aries users without the need for additional plugins. DSR’s proposal uniquely benefits both communities by increasing the adoption of Cardano and Atala PRISM while providing Hyperledger Aries users with more out-of-the-box VDR options. 

Hyperledger Aries and CL Anoncreds are some of the most mature and adapted solutions for Self-Sovereign Identity. Hyperledger Indy ledger is still the default VDR (ledger) for many Hyperledger Aries projects. The Aries community is looking for a multi-ledger support and broader adaption with other VDRs.

Our experience includes serving as a primary contributor to Hyperledger Indy, a ready-to-use Self-Sovereign Identity framework and platform, consisting of tools, libraries, and components for providing independent digital identities rooted on a decentralized network. We believe that the decentralized Web 3.0 world will give everyone more control over their data, increase security, bolster privacy regulations like GDPR, and help support government initiatives for regulators and consumers alike while delivering a better user experience.
